This past weekend, local artist and impresario Rolando Chang Barrero’s newly opened Lake Worth art gallery hosted the opening reception for Barrero’s annual “B/W: Affair and Exhibition.” If you missed the opening reception, you can still catch the artwork through Jan. 15, at no cost.

The exhibition features the colorful, deceptively abstract art of Palm Beach painter James Rabidoux, whose new works feature words hidden in esoteric designs. They will be accompanied by two window installations from German artist and self-described “cultural instigator” Uta Brauser—macabre and surreal works from this public art pioneer (pictured).

Palm Beach artist, James Rabidoux will be featured at Rolando Chang Barrero's Annual B/W:Affair and Exhibition with a reception on Saturday,December 27, 2014 fron 6-9 pm.
"My new work begins with the word that the painting is named for...I paint the word a few or many times on the blank canvas and then I just start painting --- trying to pay attention to composition without trying to pay attention. I pick the words based on the shapes of the letters and not the word. That also makes it very easy to name them. This is not a “Where’s Waldo” gimmick. People find out there is a word in there somewhere - the intrigue begins, which is fine with me. Any way to get the experienced or novice art lovers to take a look and enjoy. I think the novice art lover can be intimidated by the “ART WORLD” and I want to change that." -J.Rabidoux

Also,
German Artist and Cultural Instigator, Uta Brauser, takes on Lake Worth with 2 insatallations on the front windows of the Rolando Chang Barrero Fine Art Gallery during the folllow up exhibition to the "smashing success" of the Gallery's Grand Opening.

ROLANDO CHANG BARRERO GALLERY
There are galleries that play it on the safe side, displaying a lot of similar styles of work, and then there are galleries that break boundaries of thinking and creating. Artist Rolando Barrero introduces a new concept for a gallery that is non-traditional explaining that, “I want to push the envelope with art that people don’t experience everyday.” Located right in the heart of downtown Lake Worth at 711 Lucerne Ave is theRolando Chang Barrero Gallery. This is Barrero’s third gallery opening following his ActivistArtistA Gallery in Boynton Beach, and Level Gallery in Miami.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place for the official opening of Barrero’s gallery on November 21st. The gallery houses an outstanding collection of work ranging with everything from couture dresses to “upcycled” painted Whole Foods bags. It is an awakening experience to walk into an exhibition showcasing art that brings forth a new gallery aesthetic. The facility features a variety of artists whom Barrero describes as “The best of West Palm Beach and Miami.” Some of the artists include Carlos Alves,Nazare FelicianoAmanda JohnsonErin Fromkes, and fashion designers Aidana Baldassarre and Juan Erman Gonzalez.
After meeting with Rolando Barrero in person, I was inspired by his dedicated talent and effervescent personality. For one, Barrero has four jobs: as a galleriest, art therapist, studio artist, and full time art promoter. He has tremendous focus and is heavily involved in South Florida’s art scene, especially with Art SynergyCraig McInnis and Barrero are the founders of the organization Art Synergy, and through this ongoing project they are able to promote the talents of local artists within the community.
When I asked Barrero how he has seen the art community evolve he responded, “It is cyclical. Right now we are leaning away from this idea of ‘sugar skulls’ and as our economy gets better the greater the demand for higher end art.” Things are taking shape for the art community in Lake Worth. If you were not able to get in on all the action at the opening ceremony, please do yourself a favor and go now!  Do not miss out on visiting a gallery that is an outstanding addition to our arts community.

Art Synergy's Palm Beach County Exhibition at Art Palm Beach 2015. Art Call Nears Deadliene December 15

Announcing ART SYNERGY ARTWEEK2015!
Art Synergy Announces New Art Districts and Calls to Artists!

Go directly to ART SYERGY ART CALL

West Palm Beach, FL - After an amazingly successful inaugural year, Art Synergy is back bigger and better with ArtWeek 2015.
Formed in early 2013 in response to the needs of local artists in Palm Beach County, Art Synergy is a countywide movement to unify and promote the diverse culture of our vibrant arts community. Developed from discussions during a think tank with local artists, Rolando Chang Barrero, Craig McInnis and Freddy Hennevelt took the lead and formed an organization to promote art events throughout the county that would coincide with Art Palm Beach. The thought was that Palm Beach County arts could benefit from the popular art event much like Miami benefitted from Art Basel.  Soon it was christened ART SYNERGY and took off running with the support of the many local artists in the county.

The first year, five art districts participated in various ways, with each district having events on one particular day during the week long Art Palm Beach event.  The repose was phenomenal and the momentum in developing the volunteer non=profit organization was ongoing throughout the year with additional countywide meetings with artists, the community and the media.
The organization grew and this year has expanded to seven districts. Once again their will be specific days in for each districts and the participating galleries and artists to be spotlighted. The districts are comprised of artists’ studios, galleries and supporting businesses and restaurants that have come together to promote local art. The seven districts are West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, North County, Northwood, Antiques Row (including Worth Avenue), Boynton Beach and Delray Beach (Artist’s Alley).
Art Synergy, a non-profit organization, and all of the participating districts are volunteer based and rely on the artists and volunteers to run and manage all of the events.  They also depend on sponsorship from local businesses and patrons in order to promote and market the events.  Art Synergy is always looking for sponsors and there are many sponsorship opportunities.
Through the generosity and support of Lee Ann Lester, the Director of IFAE and Art Palm Beach, Art Synergy will once again have a booth at the ArtPalm Beach 2015 exhibition, January 22 through January 25, 2105.. This is an extraordinary opportunity for artists to be in this prestigious show by entering a call to artists. It will be a juried exhibition of exceptional work created and made by professional artists of Palm Beach County at the  This beautiful showcase is held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, Palm Beach, FL., and is dedicated to providing a rich visual arts experience for collectors and art enthusiasts from Europe, Asia, and North and South America -.
The call for artists is open to all residents of Palm Beach County.  The deadline to apply is December 15, 2014.  Applications are available at Juried Art Services --Go directly to ART SYERGY ART CALL

There will be many exciting events and fabulous opportunities to view art of all media throughout the county.  As events are scheduled, they will be posted on the Art Synergy website, www.artsynergyPBC.com
